The Petri Intra Oral Retractors are used for the retraction of soft tissues, like the lips and the mucosa flaps in maxillofacial procedures. This is important in surgeries like maxillary advancement and other procedures that correct facial deformities. The retractor has an overall length of 23 cm. It consists of a hollow handle, a neck, and a diverging blade that is 25.5 mm wide. Its handle features two projections at its upper and lower ends that can accommodate the assistant’s fingers and offer optimum dexterity. The shaft is streamlined to minimize obstruction of the surgical field, and the blade is smooth to avoid inadvertent damage to surrounding soft tissues.
