The Ferris-Smith Kerrison Rongeur is a multipurpose surgical punch used in many neurosurgical and bone procedures, like laminectomy procedures, where the hand-held device cuts pieces of bone and thick soft tissues. It is 23 cm in size and consists of two flat spring handles, a shaft with handles at a 40° angle, and two punching blades. One blade is fixed and the other is made to slide in the anteroposterior direction by pressing the handles. The projection in the posterior handle fits between the thumb and index fingers of the operator to improve the force exerted, and we added an angle in the anterior handle to enhance the device's grasp and dexterity.
