- The Lemmon Sternal Approximator is ideally used in cardiothoracic surgical procedures needing sternal approximation such as a to close a midline sternotomy. This instrument comes equipped with two pointed prongs that can be set at variable sizes and smoothly moved via a ratcheting mechanism controlled by a large dial that can be turned by hand.
