The Jansen Retractor is an adjustable self-retaining device that is used to widen wound edges to allow for optimal exposure of its contents. The device consists of a U-shaped assembly with a central adjustable screw lock and two curved blades. Turning the lock causes the blades to diverge, and each blade has three sharp prongs on its outer end that can widen wound edges in the process. The device is 10 cm in size.
